Secret support for IT colleague

It is Babyloss Awareness Week which aims to spread the message that while pregnancy loss can be an upsetting experience, it doesn’t have to be a lonely one.

For our IT Customer Services Manager, Lloyd Bathurst, it has been a year of excitement followed by sadness. After a successful round of IVF, Lloyd and his wife Amanda, unexpectedly lost their baby twins late into the pregnancy.

When he returned to work, Lloyd found the support and understanding he was given by the CSIT team a real comfort. However, when Lloyd said that he and Amanda were going to try another round of IVF, his colleagues secretly decided to raise some money to put towards the cost of the treatment.

Although Lloyd was aware of the fundraising activities, including Karene Beeching’s cakes and bacon roll sales, it was only when he was presented with a cheque for over £600 at last week’s Team Meeting, that 'the penny dropped'. Thanking the team for their "kindness and unbelievable generosity", he said "I do not think any of you will realise how much this means to myself and Amanda. This money will go a long way to helping pay for this, hopefully, final attempt."
