Becoming Carbon Neutral

LASER Energy assists Tunbridge Wells Borough Council with Zero Carbon consultancy services.

Over the last year LASER has been developing it’s  Zero Carbon consultancy services, aimed at helping  customers on their journey towards becoming carbon neutral. As a key part of this development, LASER won a competitive tender with Tunbridge Wells Borough Council to achieve just that.

Through this project, LASER:

•Worked with TWBC to understand their organisation and determine which emissions they should include within the scope of the project.

•Carried out an extensive data collection exercise. LASER provided templates and advice to assist wherever possible.

•Created TWBC’s carbon footprint, breaking it down in various ways to give insight into emissions and identify most significant emissions sources.

•Forecast how emissions would evolve as far as 2050 in a ‘business as usual’ scenario.

•Worked with the  Council to identify a set of initiatives that could be undertaken to reach their
target of being carbon neutral for their own estate by 2030.

•Built into a model that demonstrated the impact on energy use, emissions and finance over the next decade. This helped to inform strategic decision making.

•Summarised in Carbon Descent Plan, providing background, industry context, a review of options available and a summary of the findings and proposed next steps.

All of these brand new services were developed, defined and delivered in line with the project timeline.

A spokesperson for LASER Energy said ‘It has been great to see that customers are really seeing the value of LASER’s approach and to have the ability to assist them on their journey to reaching net zero carbon emissions’.
