The Role
The Commercial Services Business Systems Design and Delivery Team (BSDD) develop and support a range of bespoke software products and integrations across Commercial Services Group. We have a new role for a systems test engineer. This is an exciting opportunity to take on the responsibility for the software testing and quality assurance across a wide variety of products, from innovative services, through to modifications to complex business solutions. A key part of the role will be to establish a new Testing Centre of Excellence across the Group, working with the applications and projects teams to introduce testing standards, tools and best practices to ensure standards are met.
Key Duties
Test Management
- Understand requirements and create and execute manual and automated tests for a range of software products and integrations generating defects concurrently within defect tracking tool.
- Specify requirements for environment, data, resources and tools, interpreting, executing and documenting complex test scripts using agreed methods and standards. Recording and analysing actions and results and maintaining a defect register.
- Analyse software to prevent issues and fixing bugs before the product is handed over to the users. As working with the code is part of the role, the tester is expected to be familiar with various coding languages.
- Analyse and interpret test results for feedback into the development process and to assist with defect problem solving.
- Report on system quality and collect metrics on test cases.
- Debug automation runs when tests fail.
- Test across multiple device types
- Create and conduct intelligent experiments in order to effectively troubleshoot issues
Communications- Working with Stakeholders
- Work with business stakeholders to identify the priority and severity of defects raised.
- Work with the business and operations to establish a testing centre of excellence.
- Engage the support team to identify workarounds and solutions for production issues.
- Collaborate with third-party suppliers and internal teams providing support and guidance to ensure software is tested and user expectations, as per requirements are met
Producing Documentation
- Produce documentation (Test Plan\Test Cases\Test Summary)
- Create traceability records from test cases back to requirements and produce test scripts, materials and regression test packs to test new and amended software or services.
Managing Standards and Governance
- To standardize processes and tools across teams.
- To monitor the quality of developed software to ensure that it meets the required standards
DefiningTools and Methodologies
- Define and use monitoring applications and software systems to carry out stress testing, performance testing, scalability testing, functional testing, regression testing and verification testing
- To evaluate/introduce/create new test methodologies to improve test effectiveness and increase coverage
General Duties
- Ability to work on several different projects at one time
- Influence the future development of a software product or service
