Providing the day-to-day management of household waste recycling centres and waste transfer stations.
The waste services team currently operate five sites in Kent. There are waste transfer stations co-located with household waste recycling centres in Sevenoaks and Tunbridge Wells. Additionally, three stand-alone household waste recycling centres are located in Maidstone, Dartford and Swanley.
Transfer stations are designed to receive domestic waste and recyclable materials that have been collected through local district and borough council kerb-side collections. Both sites also offer and accept waste from commercial customers.
Household waste recycling centres provide facilities for residents to dispose of household waste not covered by kerb-side collections. These sites offer a wide range of recycling and composting collection points including; glass, garden waste, paper and card, wood, metal and electrical goods. Over 72% of the materials deposited at these sites goes on to be recycled and composted.
The management and operation role of these sites includes the associated haulage requirements to deliver materials between customer sites and end recycling and/or re-processing destinations.
