Commercial Services Group Systems Restored following Ransomware Attack
On the 2nd April 2020 Commercial Services (CSG) was subject to a ransomware attack.
The attack affected a significant number of systems. Despite this (and the obvious covid-19 challenges) the company was able to continue trading through out with very little impact on customer facing services.
The Information Commissioner’s Office (as well as other statutory and law enforcement agencies) were informed of the incident on the 2nd April and have been kept updated as CSG progressed with its investigations. The ICO have subsequently confirmed that there is to be no regulatory action taken against CSG and that the matter has now been closed.
CSG has taken learning from this incident and have already commenced to incorporate that into the systems recovery, including additional security measures, as well as a complete new enhanced infrastructure. CSG has now restored its systems, and are now functioning as business as usual.
We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to everyone involved in the recovery phase and to apologise for any inconvenience caused to our customers and suppliers during this period.
